Monday, March 01, 2004 It was a musical weekend. started off with watching "Chicago" and ended up sleeping while listening to "Faryaad"! I liked Chicago, though I couldn't watch the whole movie! The idea was unique, at least in Hollywood.. if you have seen Dancer in the Dark (one of the best movies i've seen), you know where the idea of being physically in prison, but seeing and sensing everything in the musical world, comes from. Nevertheless, the puppet scene was amazing and very original.. anyway, chicago was much better than i expected it to be!! Our practice with saba was very good too.. hopefully, we're ready to perform! i love both our pieces "Vocalise" and the Sonate we've played since the beginning of time! so hard to choose one! we had a great time with the "armani song".. poor saeed hadn't even heard it once, but he managed to figure it out very well! it's really such an advantage (nemat) to have a good voice. it's the most portable and low-maintanance instrument! it was good to see my mom so cheered up while singing "daaman keshaan saaghiye meykhaaran..", remembering the days of singing this same song when she was at our age in the mountains.. i wish there were mountains around here, so we could go hiking too.. of course, i wish with much higher intensity that we would be climbing up tochal and kolakchaal.. ohh and the dinner was great!! so good to see Mehrnoosh after such a long time.. we watched Lost in Translation. It's a funny movie. it's quite original, and the acting is good too. But you get a feeling the actors are not really acting, and that's how they are in real life.. it was a different way of showing the idea of being lost. Lost in life, no matter what stage you're in. It definintly wasn't the kind of movie that would challenge your mind and have a great influence on you.. but we got good laughs out of it.. the poor Japanese! Have to start playing Taar and taking it seriously. There's not much time to the end of term! I'm so happy i've found the largest resource of music cds ever!! have to refresh my memory about all the cds i wanted to get and couldn't find in stores! there is a solution to every problem, at least for now! posted by Farzaneh | 4:59 p.m. | |
